Nimuë

Nimuë

Inspired by Arthurian myth, this image is a depiction of Nimuë (also known as Vivien or Niniane along with many variations). She is a pivotal yet ambiguous figure in many tellings of the stories concerning King Arthur, Merlin and the various Knights of The Round Table, and can be seen as a manifestation of "The Lady Of The Lake" archetype.

In this rendering, I have chosen to interpret Nimuë as a primal feminine force. A priestess of caves, underground streams and the night. The "Princess Of Disks". A chthonic intermediary between the world of men & of the earth itself, which offers up the sacred ore & mineral needed to forge the sword of kings Excalibur.
